2005 SEASON

"Dennis Menaces; Paul Stands Tall"
2005 was an exciting year that saw close races for both the records and points championships. Dennis Foltz, sporting the league's best corps of wide receivers and it's best quarterback, Peyton Manning, held serve with Eddie Gulbenkian for most of the second half of the season, but in the end Eddie lost crucial games allowing Dennis to claim his first title. Dennis drafted wisely, striking gold with picks like Warrick Dunn and in later rounds with Santana Moss and Plaxico Burress.

In the points race, the last month of the season featured a very tight race between Paul Shindelus and Dan Todd. Dennis led most of the year but tailed off at the end, leaving Paul and Dan to fight it out. Dan took an early lead, but bolstered by a late-season trade that brought him Shaun Alexander, Ricky Williams, and Anquan Boldin, in addition to the tremendous play of Larry Johnson and second-half surge by Matt Hasslebeck, Paul was able to overcome Dan and become the league's first-ever two-time winner of either championship.

Before the season started the league said goodbye to Sean Arceo and Marc Chevalier, but it was proud to welcome back two of the league's founding owners, Nick Stolpman and Mike Weistling, to replace them. The season featured great parity in at least the first half, as was evident by the fact that more owners won $20 weekly prizes than in any other season. Kevin Clark got off to a red-hot start, winning the first two $20 prizes, meanwhile, traditional powers like Joe Shindelus and Marc Takenaga both faltered and finished with losing records. But in the end, 2005 was a season to remember for all the right reasons.
