"Paul Wins Again"![]()
|
2007 was certainly an interesting year for all and some fresh faces in title contention (Kevin Clark, Jeremie Ginelli) as well as some of the usual contenders (Paul Shindelus, Joe Shindelus, Dan Todd). In the end, it was Paul winning both the records and points championships--his second records title and third points title. Paul got off to a quick 5-0 start but surrendered first place for much of the middle of the season. However, the last few weeks saw him surge ahead (thanks in large part to the return of Andre Johnson from injury) and one-by-one the competion started to fade. Paul won the records title by one game over Dan T. and the points title by almost 100 points over Joe. After 11 weeks of play Paul and Jeremie were tied for both the points and records lead, a first time that's ever happened so late in the season. Lifted by the incredible play of Tom Brady, Kevin Clark found himself in title contention for the first time through much of the season. As he often does, Dan Todd made a strong late-season push (including a 7-game winning streak) and if the season was two weeks longer, he may have caught Paul. But Paul's solid drafting (including Tony Romo in the eight round), waiver wire pickups (including Jason Witten and Patrick Willis), and trading (acquiring Clinton Portis and Larry Fitzgerald) helped him overcome a late-season injury to Willie Parker and hold on for the title. Unfortunately, 2007 may have been the only year when no league records were broken. But it did see the emergence of some exciting new fantasy football players, such as Adrian Peterson, Brandon Marshall, Ryan Grant, and Braylon Edwards. The league said goodbye to Mike Weistling, an original member of the league, as 2007 would be his last season. But as always, the league continued to flourish and its competitors continued to grow more sophisticated. All-in-all, it was a very good year. |
