WEEK 1 RECAP:
It was quite a remarkable first week to the season that saw a pair of close and high-scoring games, a couple of blowouts, lots of on-the-field injuries, and more. For the second straight season the first $20 pize of the year went to Paul. Paul got outstanding production from Tony Romo, Andre Johnson, and Clinton Portis enroute to a lopsided win over Tom and LaDanian Tomlinson. Congratulations to Paul, our first $20 winner! Other action featured two game-of-the-year candidates right out of the gate. First, there was Dan L. and Kevin. Dan got impressive weeks from Plaxico Burress and Shaun Alexander and hung on to defeat Kevin, who scored well but just couldn't overcome Dan despite a strong effort from Tom Brady. Then there was Jeremie and Eddie, who like Dan and Kevin duked it out to the tune of 227 combined total points. But in the end Jeremie barely outlasted his foe thanks in large part to his Indy combo of Joseph Addai and Reggie Wayne. Other games saw Dan T. defeat Mike behind Peyton Manning (who else?) and Lamont Jordan. Dennis got solid if unexpected production from Eli Manning and easily defected Nick. And in the only game not to see anyone score 100, Marc outlasted Uncle Joe thanks to Terrell Owens and Santonio Holmes. All-in-all, an exciting first week.

MATCHUP-OF-THE-WEEK:
Uncle Joe vs. Dan L. Okay, so there might be more enticing matchups out there (Jeremie/Paul, Dan T./Kevin), but this is a renewal of the biggest rivalry in the league dating all the way back to 2002 when Uncle Joe held off Dan to win the title on Monday night. These two always seem to be at each other's throats and provide a good game every time. Dan is coming off an impressive Week 1 performance, while Joe, the defending champion, seeks to regain momentum after a tough loss.

LEAGUE NEWS & NOTES:
-In a whopper of an early season trade, Nick sent RB Clinton Portis and WR Larry Fitzgerald to Paul in exchange for WR Steve Smith and RB Fred Taylor.
-As many of you recognized this week, free agent transactions were not locked down at the start of the Thursday game as they are with CBS. Looks like that’s how Yahoo does things. So feel free to pick up players between Thursday and Sunday on games during the later weeks of the year when Thursday games happen every week. As to how Saturday will impact free agents, well, your guess is as good as the Commissioner’s. I guess we’ll find out later this year.
-From an injury standpoint this was among the most brutal first weeks ever. Please make sure you check your lineups very carefully this coming week to be sure you don’t start injured players. At least three players who are starters in someone’s fantasy lineup are slated to miss significant time with injuries.

THE “POOP LIST”
This year the weekly recaps will feature a new section called the “Poop List” where instances of inactive players finding their ways into people’s lineups will be pointed out. The hope is that this list will be empty as often as possible. The sole owner on this week’s “Poop List” is Mike for his playing of Terry Glenn. It was announced on Thursday that Glenn would miss at least two weeks, maybe more, with a knee injury. Apparently Mike did not get the memo, as come game day Terry Glenn was in his lineup. As always, please do your best not to play players who are inactive.
